The Hoke County Sheriff’s Office announced on Wednesday, October 22, 2025, at approximately 10:37 A.M., two inmates housed at the Hoke County Detention Center—Mr. Charles Justin Dale Locklear of Robeson County and Mr. Johnathan Daniel Oxendine of Hoke County—escaped custody. Upon discovery of the escape, detention staff immediately notified the Sheriff’s Office, and deputies were dispatched to establish a perimeter and begin search operations.

Raeford, N.C. – The Hoke County Sheriff’s Office announced that on Thursday, December 4, 2025, an unresponsive child was brought to a local hospital. Despite immediate lifesaving efforts by medical staff, the child was pronounced deceased. The next of kin was notified.

The Hoke County Sheriff’s Office announced on October 31, 2025, that deputies were patrolling in the area of Dial Road. Deputies observed a vehicle going left of center and smelled the odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. During the traffic stop, deputies approached the vehicle and while approaching, could smell the odor of marijuana getting stronger as they got closer to the car.

Jail Escape / Inmate Escape — Hoke County Detention Center RAEFORD, NC — At approximately 1130am today, 2 inmates were discovered missing while out on recreation. It was discovered these inmates placed a sheet over the barbed wire fence in the recreation area at the Hoke County Detention Center.
